Jakarta, July 9, 2024 - Bank Mandiri once again demonstrates its commitment to the development of sports in Indonesia by becoming the title sponsor for the third time at the Indonesia Open 2024. This prestigious golf tournament will be held at Damai Indah Golf – PIK Course, Jakarta, from August 29 to September 1, 2024.

Through Bank Mandiri's participation, they hope to ignite the spirit of golf athletes in Indonesia and make a positive contribution to the development of golf achievements in Indonesia.
This support, Rohan continued, is also an effort by Bank Mandiri to stimulate sports tourism in the country. "Bank Mandiri is honored to collaborate with the Indonesia Open. This tournament is not only important locally, but also has significant regional appeal, making it a sports event worthy of collaboration with Bank Mandiri," said Rohan in Jakarta, Tuesday (9/7).
The bank with the golden ribbon logo explained that this support is in line with the company's initiative to help athletes' development to achieve positive achievements at the international level.
"We see an increasing interest from the public towards golf every year, especially among the younger generation. This is what drives Bank Mandiri to enliven and support this golf tournament so that Indonesian golfers can compete in world-class tournaments," he explained.
The Mandiri Indonesia Open 2024 offers a total prize of US$ 500,000 or around IDR 8.15 billion (exchange rate 1 US$ = IDR 16,300), with the first-place winner entitled to US$ 90,000. The Chairman of the Indonesian Golf Association (PB PGI), Japto Soerjosoemarno, expressed his appreciation for Bank Mandiri's support.

Japto added that Damai Indah Golf – PIK Course will once again host the Mandiri Indonesia Open 2024, after last hosting ten years ago. Golfers will face new challenges at Damai Indah Golf – PIK Course, designed by legendary golf course designer, Robert Trent Jones Jr.

According to Cho Minn Thant, Commissioner and CEO of the Asian Tour, in recent seasons, the Mandiri Indonesia Open has added tremendous strength to the mid-season schedule of the Asian Tour.

For your information, the Indonesia Open has been held since 1974. To date, only one Indonesian golfer has ever won, namely Kasiadi in 1989. Another Indonesian player, Rory Hie, almost repeated history in 2011. However, he had to settle for T2 position under Thaworn Wiratchand (Thailand) who became the champion. At that time the tournament was held at Damai Indah Golf – PIK Course.
Last year, the tournament was won by Nitithorn Thippong from Thailand. Other star players like Gaganjeet Bhullar from India have won three times, in 2013, 2016, and 2022. Irish golfer Padraig Harrington also became the champion in 2014, which was the last time the tournament was held at Damai Indah Golf – PIK Course before returning again this year.
Thaworn Wiratchan won twice, in 2005 and 2011. His compatriot Thongchai Jaidee won in 2009. Craig Parry (Australia) won in 1997 and Frank Nobilo (New Zealand) won in 1994. The late Payne Stewart, an American golfer who won 11 PGA Tour tournaments, also won the Indonesia Open in 1981.
